Challenges

Challenges must be submitted to Alberta Soccer from the relevant Senior district association by May 1st annually and meet the criteria outlined in the AMSL Operating Rules, Section 12) Relegation and Promotion.

Only one team will in the North and one team in the South will  be eligible to challenge for each division, the last placed North team and last placed South team respectively.

In cases where  more than one team has declared their intention to challenge for a particular division (North and/or South), a series of games if required (as outlined in Section 12 of the AMSL Operating Rules) will take place to determine who will ultimately participate in the challenge series to enter the league the next season.

2024 Promotional Challenges

Futbol United (EDSA) has put in a challenge for the AMSL Women North

1Up United (CUSA) has put in a challenge for the AMSL Men South.

In a challenge series:

  1. Head to head games with aggregate score for the two matches will be used

  2. Two 15-minute halves of extra time shall be played at the end of regular time of the second game if the teams are still tied per the AMSL tie-breaking regulations.

  3. If at the end of the extra time, the teams remain tied, then kicks from the penalty spot shall be taken as per FIFA Laws to decide the winner.
